Designing NYC’s trashcans for the next 100 years.

HOLeD, a simple design with maximum adaptability, is equally sustainable for the environment and the sanitation worker. The bin uses an energy efficient closed-loop manufacturing system and Cradle to Cradle-certified aluminum to significantly reduce expenses and carbon footprint. HOLeD enhances the current bin’s merits while integrating handles at a variety of levels to improve ergonomics for workers of differing heights. A concave base provides additional gripping options to better suit the common method of grabbing a can’s base for leverage.

Project done in collaboration with Sarah Templin, Danielle Connelly, and Gabriel Gonzalez.
